Research Interests

My studies mainly focus on population genetics and phylogenectics of marine organisms. My current research is to identify the genetic variation in the eastern oyster’s susceptibility to parasite diseases such as Dermo and MSX. It is helpful to understand the genetic mechanism of how these diseases cause epizootics in natural populations.


Current Research Projects

•  Genetics of oyster's susceptibility as part of the NSF grant, "Development of a theoretical basis for modeling disease processes in marine invertebrates".
•  Identification of disease-resistance genes in the eastern oyster.
