Research Interests

My research interests include the physiology, ecology and histopathology of aquatic organisms including both native and non-native species, the effects of long-term climate change on disease spread and mechanisms of host defense/resistance to parasites and diseases, the influence of human and natural stress factors (e.g. chemical contamination, eutrophication, habitat loss, overharvesting, changes in climate, extreme natural events, etc.) on aquatic organism health and contaminant body burden, and the potential relationships of biology including parasites, diseases and tissue pathologies to contaminant body burden in sentinel organisms.

Current Research Projects

•National Status and Trends (NS&T) Program - Mussel Watch (MW) Project
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

•Surf Clam and Ocean Quahog Project
National Fisheries Institute
