Research Interests

My research interests are shellfish genetics and aquaculture, with current emphasis on the following topics: studying the role of chromosome rearrangements in speciation using fluorescence in situ hybridization, developing of disease-resistant and fast growing oyster strains for aquaculture and fisheries enhancement through the triploid-tetraploid technology, and mapping of oyster disease resistance genes for marker-assisted selection with association studies.

Current Research Projects

•Enhance growth and disease-resistance of the eastern oyster by interstrain hybridization and triploidy (National Sea Grant Oyster Disease Research Program);

•Validation of disease-resistance markers for marker-assisted selection in the eastern oyster (National Sea Grant Oyster Disease Research Program).
