Research Interests

My most recent work at the Haskin Shellfish Research Laboratory’s focuses on outreach and education through a community-based oyster restoration project—Project PORTS: Promoting Oyster Restoration Through Schools. Project PORTS provides elementary through high school students the opportunity to participate in a “real-world” oyster restoration project and learn about the importance of oyster populations in the Delaware Bay ecosystem.

My research interests center on diseases of shellfish with a particular emphasis on the role of environmental factors in regulating disease dynamics.

Current Projects

• Project PORTS: Promoting Oyster Restoration Through Schools, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Delaware Estuary Watershed Grants Program.

• Project PORTS: Promoting Oyster Restoration Through Schools—Shell Recycling for Oyster Habitat. Cumberland County Improvement Authority.
